Memphis Maximalism

There has been a huge rebirth of this iconic design movement in the recent years which has come through in all mediums and it seems to keep growing and growing. I have always been a huge fan of anything from the 80's and 90's so for me its hugely inspiring and nostalgic. It certainly isn't to everyone's taste when it comes to their own home although it seems to be very popular theme in commercial spaces in recent times.

More is definitely more, colours that we were taught in design pre-school as "clashing" are now high on trend , and the same goes with multiple patterns being put together. I suppose in a way it is putting the middle finger up to minimalism and refusing to conform to the boring and bland.

Camilla Walala has been hugely influential to the rebirth of this movement. She has taken it globally and has been putting her stamp on buildings and cities around the world.

Its something that is reminding us all not to take things too seriously and to add humour to our surroundings, the weird and wacky is here to stay for a while.
